Everyone loves the springtime. The flowers start to bloom and the sun is finally making an appearance again while the temperatures rise.
During the winter, you’ve probably neglected your car a little. Don’t worry, we’re all guilty of this. After all, it’s been cold, snowy and icy.
But it does mean you’ve got to do some ‘spring cleaning’ of your vehicle. Check out our top tips on how you can get your car ready for the spring.
Test the Brakes
The bad weather during the winter can put a strain on your brakes. This means that when the better weather rolls around again, it’s best to get your brakes tested. This can be done at a regular car service and make sure everything is working well. Signs that show your brakes may not be at their best include squeaking noises and grinding sounds. To make sure you and your family are safe, make sure your brakes are tested for spring.
Check Your Wipers and Washer Fluids
Clearing all of the rain, snow and ice from your windshield is a lot of hard work during the winter. This may mean that it’s time to replace your windshield wipers when it comes to the spring. If you notice that your glass is still dirty or streaky despite using your wipers, this can be a sign that you need some new ones.
In addition, you’ll notice a lot more bugs hitting your windshield again during the spring. Of course, these can be hard to remove and affect visibility. The best way you can get rid of them is with the help of your washer fluids. When it comes to the spring, top them up so you can clear your windscreen with no problems.
Swap the Tyres
Winter tyres are great during the bad weather. But now it’s spring time, they really aren’t needed anymore. So, it’s best to swap back to your regular tyres again. This is an easy process that shouldn’t take long. We’ll happily do this for you at Ox-In-Flames.
Once you have your car back, it’s recommended that you check your tyres. This includes inspecting the tread to make sure that it’s still within the legal limits. In addition, you should make sure the right tyre pressure is on your tyres for safety and fuel efficiency.
Complete a Deep Clean
Has your car been really dirty over the winter? A lot of drivers don’t clean the outside of their car during the colder and wetter months of the year. But when it’s spring time, it’s best to get the cleaning products out. Leaving all of this dirt and grime on your car is only going to cause damage. It can cause micro scratches to your paintwork and even start rusting. Of course, this is the last thing that you want to happen to your vehicle. Time to get cleaning!
Book an Air Conditioning Service
When you jump into your car and it’s warm, the first thing you’re going to do is switch on the air conditioning. But after a long winter, the chances are you haven’t used it in a while and it may smell or make some strange noises. This is common when it’s not been switched on for several months. It should really be used during the winter to avoid problems, but drivers don’t tend to do this.
If you discover these problems when you use your car, it’s going to be time for an air conditioning service. At Ox-In-Flames our experienced technicians will take a look at your vehicle and inspect your air conditioning system. We will check to see if there is mould or bacteria in the system, and clean out any dust and dirt from the pollen filters. This is going to help with those who suffer from allergies.
A lot of people don’t realise that the lubricant for your air conditioning system should be replaced every two years. This makes sure it runs well and cools you down during the lovely spring and summer weather.
At Ox-In-Flames we’re here to serve the motorists of Neath (Seven Sisters) so if you’d like some assistance with any of the above, or you’d like to book your vehicle in for a service or Spring health check then give us a call as we here to help.
