MOT

MOT tests are a legal requirement set by the DVSA. During the MOT, important parts on your vehicle will be checked to make sure they meet the legal standards. You can watch the test from a viewing area but you’re not allowed to interrupt the tester.

Ox In Flames aim to make the experience as easy as possible, so our MOT testers make sure that your vehicle is checked thoroughly to meet the DVSA requirements, but if your car does fail the M.O.T then we can quote you on the repairs and get you back on the road as quickly as possible

Why do I need to get an MOT?

An MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards.

Anyone with a car over three years old needs a valid MOT certificate by law. If you are caught without one, you risk a £1,000 penalty and you could be prosecuted. You will also be unable to renew your road tax and it could invalidate your insurance.

When is my MOT due?

An MOT is due annually. Ox-In-Flames will send you a reminder a month before your next MOT, if we have carried out a previous MOT on your car.

Should I book early?

You can bring your vehicle to us one month prior to when your MOT is due without losing any time from your previous certificate.

How Soon Can You MOT My Vehicle?

Ox-In-Flames is open five days a week and offers an out-of-hours drop-off and collection service.

We will try to accommodate your test at a time which is convenient for you and we fit in last minute bookings wherever we can. If your car needs maintenance work in order for it to pass its MOT, we will do our best to complete this at the same time.

We will keep you informed

Ox-In-Flames will always communicate openly and honestly with you. You will never be surprised by unexpected costs.

When you book an MOT with us, we will start by completing some initial checks on your vehicle and then we will contact you to agree any repair work we feel is needed to make sure your car passes.

Our aim is to have you back on the road, in a car you can rely on, as soon as possible.

How much will it cost?

The government caps the cost of the MOT test at £54.85.

We provide a range of services to suit all budgets and requirements.  We offer a payment plan so you can spread the cost of your yearly service and any repair work.

The law has changed

The MOT changed on 20 May 2018, with new defect types, stricter rules for diesel car emissions, and some vehicles over 40 years old becoming exempt.

You don’t need to worry about that though as we here to ensure your car passes and you stay safe!
